PROJECT 2 EVALUATION

Updated: Apr 13, 2020

RESEARCH

My research primarily consists of finding courses under fashion design, business and or fashion communication, mainly in the South West area or abroad as I find great interest in doing things in places where the subject originates from or is popularised. As a result, I've found a couple courses that have caught my eye of interest; University of Brighton, offering a BA HONS in fashion design and business studies. This is almost perfect as it comes along with business studies and has other courses embedded in it as other options such as, Fashion Communication and Fashion Textiles with business. I attended open day for this course around October where I got in contact with the head of the departments for Fashion Design and Fashion Communication and requested for further help via email, I keep in contact with them for tips and advice for my portfolio. Further more, I also found University of South Wales which offers Fashion Business and Marketing. Consequently, this course doesn't require a background in Fashion or Design and as I'm taking music this would help in moving toward a different industry as well as introducing and embedding music into a place where music fits incredibly well. A couple course I am interested in outside of the UK are Polimoda, in Florence, Italy. They offer a variety of courses under fashion such as Fashion art direction, Fashion Merchandising, Fashion design and Fashion Business which I'm interested in. Another University I'm interested in abroad would be IFA Paris, Fashion school in France that do an MBA in Fashion Business. All these Universities offering Fashion Design and Business have promising reviews and ratings however I don't believe I will be applying this year but the year after.

My personal statement for these courses

The diligence towards the artistic industry has fundamentally changed through our course in time with new creative form in haute couture every year. And fashion; the art that delineates individuals, constitutes protocol and continues to innovate designers throughout the world, has always intrigued me in light of something that can be challenged and perceived differently by everyone whether they're a designer or a consumer.

Fashion has always intrigued me for the longest of time, especially the business and marketing side of things. Good Fashion marketing captures a selling point of a product and showcases it to an audience in a way where mood and emotion is articulated, something the fashion industry does at a constant rate. The world is built on marketing whether it's implicitly or explicitly shown, everything is rooted in some form of advertisement, to tap into the power of creating that wonder without it being pushy or forced has always stood out for me. With this passion for Fashion and Business, I've created my own Fashion line, Saint Blonde, a streetwear brand fueled by the skating community, modeled by my friends and directed by myself, a youth with a passion for street sports and a drive for modern fashion wear. Fashion is engrained into skating, the whole movement is transfixed on what outfits can be pulled off while trey flipping off a high wall, what shirt looks good and feels good while skating, and outfits that define the skate community and creates it's own fashion genre, skater streetwear. Music is also heavily built into the fashion industry, my passion for music has always been a strong standpoint in my life since I was very young, singing and writing my own songs at 6, learning the guitar for well over 10 years, the bass for over 4 and playing the drums, keys on the side. My passion for music is what introduced me into the world of fashion, how both industries are embedded strongly within each other. I made a presentation for this in my course where I explained in further detail of how importance music is in fashion and vice versa. This year, while doing my Music UAL in Performance and Production Diploma, I have gotten the oppurtunity to compose the tracks for my college's end of year Fashion Show runway. With this, I am doing something to combine the works of both of my passions, Fashion and Music. I'm creating Fashion Runway show tracks inspired by Sebastian, French House DJ who has composed for several years and counting for major fashion house, Yves Saint Laurent, I've also got into contact with him and asked him on advice for any specific instrumental synths he uses when composing for Yves Saint Laurent. Music, business and fashion have always been something I would love to get into and I believe I'm half way there to achieving all perfectly needed skills to master all three subjects. I would like to apply for this course to gain experience needed for the industry as I believe this University is capable of innovating students to their fullest and greatest potential. I've chosen this course to help get a kick start in what Fashion Communication/Business/Marketing will be about. Exploring fashion design in an industry that's continuing to transcend the art of lifestyle in material needs has been a passion of mine for a long time. I believe I'm suitable for this course as I am ready to achieve skills necessary for the fashion industry and ready to be challenged. During this course I hope to build my portfolio wider and broader like never before and be ready for more creative thinking in the world of art and design.

PREPERATION FOR AN INTERVIEW:

TO PREPARE FOR A JOB INTERVIEW YOU MUST:

In conclusion to get a job you must sell yourself like you're a product and they're the buyer. Every company, organisation and place looks for something that fits within their standards and guarentees quality of work and gain of profit from every individual, you must promise them that and convince them in the tone of your voice, experience you've got to show and overall confidence in that you are what they're looking for.
